Free things to do in Dublin National Gallery of Ireland

Free things to do in Dublin why not check the National Gallery of Ireland I am embarrassed to say I hadn’t been there since I was a child but I started going again in January and really is amazing to see a Picasso up close and Yeats collection and not to mention how relaxing it is walking around oh and its free that’s right free and its only a ten minute walk from Grafton Street.

If you are there with children they offer a free family pack containing paper, pencils, discovery trails and activity sheets they are available at the Information Desk in the Millennium Wing and on Saturdays at 3.00pm they offer family workshop again these are free and great way to keep a budding artist happy check out there www.nationalgallery.ieimage

Directions

Located in the city centre, in the heart of Georgian Dublin, the Gallery is easily accessible on foot, and by public transport.

On foot: The Gallery is less than ten minutes on foot from St Stephen’s Green and Grafton Street.

By DART: Pearse Station is five minutes from the Gallery.

By LUAS: If travelling via the Green Line, alight at St. Stephen’s Green. The Gallery is a short walk from here. If travelling via the Red Line, alight at Abbey Street, which is about 20 minutes from the Gallery.

By Bus: Nos 4, 7, 8 to Merrion Square North & Clare Street
No 39a to Merrion Row
No 46a to Dawson Street & Nassau Street

By dublinbikes: There are two dublinbikes stations beside the Gallery, located at Clare Street and at Merrion Square West.

By Car: There is metered parking on Merrion Square.

  1. Oh I love this! I haven’t been since I was in 2nd class on our school tour – which was proclaimed the worst school tour ever as I went to primary school in Kilmacud hahaha. Other years we went to more exotic places like Wicklow 😉 I definitely need to head there soon so thanks for the tip! Xx

    1. Haha Charlene yes i would say that was the worse school trip ever my school was 10 mins from there so we wore brought there alot but because our school was in town we had a farm in a truck come to visit us to show us was cows looked like very strange day lol
